The math behind the estimate
Shown plainly so you can sanity-check it against your own experience, or adjust the assumptions to match how your sessions actually run.
Capacity mode: total available shooting time is stations × hours × 60 minutes, reduced by the buffer percentage to account for real-world overhead. That figure is then divided by minutes-per-person to get the estimated headcount.
Stations mode: total minutes needed is target people × minutes per person, grossed up by the buffer percentage. That figure is divided by the total minutes available per station (hours × 60) and rounded up, since a fraction of a station means you need the next whole one.
The buffer defaults to 15%, a reasonable starting assumption for a typical live event — adjust it down for a very tightly run session, or up for one with more natural interruptions.
